Nitin Kelawon Sookun

Nitin Kelawon Sookun, known across the community as Ish, is Head of Systems & Architecture at La Sentinelle Ltd, Mauritius’ largest media group, where he is responsible for the group’s infrastructure.

Ish has worked with Linux since 2001 and has spent over two decades in systems, network and platform administration. He is an elected member of the openSUSE Project Board and a Google Developer Expert in Cloud. He holds RHCSA and SUSE Certified Engineer certifications, and an MBA in Artificial Intelligence.

Ish has contributed to resource policy development discussions within the AFRINIC community, and has delivered training on Linux systems administration and cloud infrastructure at institutions and technical events across Mauritius. He is a member of Mauritius’ National Cybersecurity Committee, where he contributes to national policy consultations on cybersecurity and digital identity, and spoke at the Mauritius Internet Governance Forum on AI and emerging cyber threats.

Ish is a co-organiser of and frequent speaker at the Developers Conference (DevCon) Mauritius, and has presented at community and industry events across Africa, Europe and Asia. He serves as VP Marketing & Communications of the PMI Mauritius Chapter and blogs about systems engineering at sysadmin-journal.com.
