Ricardo Patara

Ricardo Patara is part of NIC.br, a non-profit civil entity in Brazil with the administrative and operational functions related to the .br domain and Internet Number resources distribution, among other services focused in Internet development in the country.

He currently works as Registration Service Manager in the National Internet Registry, NIR, department of NIC.br.

He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a technical MBA in High-Speed Networks from the Computer Network and Architecture Lab at USP.

He previously worked in the Academic Network of São Paulo as network administrator, helping with the deployment of new PoPs, interconnections and peering.

He also worked at LACNIC as Technical Manager for almost 10 years. As one LACNIC’s first employees, he helped build its registration services.

With a strong participation in local tech communities, he helped create LACNOG, the regional network operators group. He was also part of its first program committee and later part of its board.

He is also author of several policies proposals in the LACNIC policy development process.
