In compliance with the ASO MoU, the Address Council and ICANN hereby call for nominations to the ICANN Board to fill vacant ASO seats on the ICANN Board.

The Address Council of the Address Supporting Organization is pleased to announce the 3rd ASO General Assembly meeting, to be held on Tuesday, 5 March 2002 in Bangkok, Thailand. This meeting will be hosted by APNIC alongside APNIC’s Open Policy Meeting, and will be open to all parties with an interest in ASO policy matters. Refer to the meeting agenda and call for presentations and participation for more details.

During the ARIN VIII meeting in Miami, Eric Decker was elected as the new ARIN region Address Council representative.

During the RIPE 40 meeting in Prague, Hans Petter Holen was elected as the RIPE NCC service region Address Council representative.

During the 12th APNIC open Policy Meeting in Taipei, Dr Kenny S. Huang was elected as the new Asia Pacific region Address Council representative at the ASO Meeting on Friday 31 August. He will replace Jianping Wu from 1 January 2002. Dr. Huang is currently the Head of Communication & Network Services, Academia Sinica and has a distinguished history of involvement in the Internet in Taiwan.

The second ASO General Assembly meeting was held on Wednesday, 4 April 2001 in the Hyatt Hotel at Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco USA, hosted by ARIN during the ARIN Public Policy and Members Meeting. The General Assembly meeting was open to all parties with an interest in ASO policy matters. Minutes from the second General Assembly Meeting are available online.

At its teleconference meeting on Wednesday 2 August 2000, the Address Council elected Dr Sang Hyun Kyong to fill the latest ASO position on the ICANN board. This position was vacated on 30 September this year by Pindar Wong, who served for a one-year term as an ICANN Director and also as Vice-Chair of ICANN.

Dr Kyong will serve on the ICANN board for a term of three years.

ICANN has announced its next round of meetings, to be held in Yokohama, Japan on 14-18 July 2000.

The previous round of ICANN meetings was held in Cairo, Egypt on 7-10 March, 2000. Full details are still available from the Cairo meeting web site .

In accordance with the ASO MoU, the ASO Address Council held its first General Assembly meeting on 19 May 2000. This meeting was held in Budapest, Hungary, in conjunction with the RIPE-36 meeting, hosted by RIPE NCC.

On 23 March 2000, ICANN called on the Address Council to select 2 individuals to fill ASO seats on the Independent Review Panel (IRP) Nominating Committee. In their letter to the AC, ICANN described the function of the committee, and provided general guidelines as to the type of individuals who would be suitable for nomination.
