The AfriNIC Board has re-appointed Alan P. Barrett to the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council for a three year term starting 1 January 2007.

The AfriNIC Board has also appointed Ali Drissa Badiel to complete the term commenced by Sylvia Geha Kezengwa on the NRO NC (which expires 31 December 2007).

In compliance with the ASO MoU and ICANN Bylaws, the Address Council hereby calls for nominations to the ICANN Board to fill the ASO seat currently held by Raimundo Beca, whose term expires in June of 2007.

This nomination period will close on 21 February 2007.

All candidates desiring to be selected to the ICANN board by the Address Council must meet the selection criteria and conflict of interest requirements as stated by ICANN in its Bylaws and other relevant documents that ICANN publishes or identifies. No candidate will be considered who does not sign a Letter of Certification attesting to compliance with the ICANN stated requirements as well as attesting to previous conduct and character. This letter will be sent via email to each applicant with a set of administrative instructions concerning its execution. Any applicant who fails to follow these instructions will not be considered as a candidate for selection.

Candidates are advised that they may be required to travel one time during the month of March or April 2007 if the Address Council decides to conduct in-person interviews.

Candidates are advised that they will be expected to complete one or more questionnaires. Any candidate that fails to complete a questionnaire by the deadline designated will not be considered as a candidate for selection.

Nominations may be submitted by anyone by sending email to secretariat@aso.icann.org. Nominations must include the following information.

  • Full name of person being nominated
  • Contact email address for person being nominated
  • Contact telephone number (if available) of the person being

APNIC is pleased to announce Toshiyuki Hosaka of JPNIC, Japan has been elected to the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council. Toshi’s term runs from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2007. He replaces Mao Wei whose term ends on 31 December 2006.

ARIN is pleased to announce Louis Lee has been re-elected to the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council from the ARIN region. He will serve another three-year term beginning 1 January 2007.

Dave Wilson of HEAnet has been elected from the RIPE NCC service region to take the vacant seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council (NC). The election came ahead of the end of a term served by Sabine Jaume, who was elected in January 2004.

Voting took place 4 October during the Plenary session of the RIPE 53 Meeting in Amsterdam. As the representative appointed by the Internet community for the NRO NC seat, Dave will serve a three-year term from 1 January 2007.

APNIC is pleased to note that Hyun-Joon Kwon has been re-elected to serve as one of APNIC’s representatives on the Number Council. The election was held on 8 September 2006, during the APNIC 22 meeting in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Dr Kwon’s two year term will run from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2008.

This is an open call for nominations from the ARIN region to fill one (1) seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council that becomes vacant with the expiration of Louis Lee’s term on 31 December 2006. Candidates must be willing to serve a three (3) year term beginning 1 January 2007.

Any individual residing within the ARIN service region may be nominated, with the exception of Regional Internet Registry staff members. Self-nominations are permitted.

Please note that the NRO Number Council representatives now fulfill the role of ICANN’s ASO Address Council. Responsibilities of NRO NC representatives are outlined in the ASO Memorandum of Understanding at:

LACNIC is pleased to announce the election of Sebastián Bellagamba as the new representative of the LACNIC region to the ASO Address Council (NRO Number Council). The election was held on May 25, 2006, during the LACNIC IX meeting in the city of Guatemala.

Sebastián was reelected to occupy a seat in the Address Council from January 1, 2007, until December 31, 2009.

At their May 3, 2006, meeting the ASO AC selected David L. Wodelet to serve a three year term on the ICANN Board of Directors. Mr. Wodelet’s term will begin in June 2006. He will fill the ICANN Board seat being vacated by Mouhamet Diop, as his term expires.
