There is a call for nominations from the RIPE NCC service region to fill one vacant seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council (NC). The term of Wilfried Woeber, who was appointed to the NRO NC by the RIPE NCC Executive Board in October 2008, ends on 31 December 2011.

The RIPE NCC Executive Board will select one representative from the nominees to serve a three-year term on the NRO NCC beginning 1 January 2012. The decision of the Executive Board will be announced at the RIPE 63 Meeting, which will be held in Vienna from 31 October-4 November 2011.

The deadline for nominations is 5 October 2011. Any individual residing within the RIPE NCC service region is eligible for nomination, except Regional Internet Registry (RIR) staff members. Self-nominations are permitted. There is no limit on the amount of terms someone can serve on the NRO NC.

All nominees may submit a written statement in support of their nomination for publication on the RIPE NCC website. Other individuals may express support for nominated individuals that will be published on the RIPE NCC website.

This is an open call for nominations from the ARIN region to fill one (1) seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council that becomes vacant with the expiration of Ron da Silva’s term on 31 December 2011. Candidates must be willing to serve a three (3) year term beginning 1 January 2012. Incumbents may be nominated for consecutive terms.

Any individual residing within the ARIN service region may be nominated, with the exception of Regional Internet Registry staff members. Self-nominations are permitted. Please note that the NRO Number Council representatives now fulfill the role of ICANN’s ASO Address Council. Responsibilities of NRO NC representatives are outlined in the ASO Memorandum of Understanding.

Representatives of the ASO Address Council (AC) hosted a workshop on regional IP addressing activities on 22 June 2011 at ICANN 41, held in Singapore.

The ASO AC invited members of the technical community, representatives from government and business groups, and all others interested in the continued growth of the Internet from established regions of the world and developing economies to attend the session to increase understanding and encourage increased participation in IP addressing community activities.

LACNIC is pleased to announce the election of Alejandro Guzmán Giraldo as the representative of the LACNIC region to the ASO Address Council / NRO Number Council. The election was held on 20 May 2011, during the LACNIC XV meeting in the city of Cancun, Mexico.

Alejandro was elected to occupy a seat in the Address Council from 1 January 2012 until 31 December 2014.

The NRO is pleased to announce that APNIC has appointed Andy Linton to the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC).

This is an interim appointment ending 31 December 2011, to replace Dr. Kenny Huang, who was recently elected to the APNIC Executive Council.

Kenny Huang, who represented the APNIC region on the ASO AC, has resigned from his position, effective 25 February 2011.

His resignation comes as a result of being elected to serve on the APNIC Executive Council (EC) during the APNIC 31 AMM on 25 February 2011.
