In the past five years that I have known him, Rajesh Chharia has come across as a person deeply committed to the growth of Information Technology. His belief in the internet as an important instrument of social and economic development and his contributions to the advancement of this cause more than justify his nomination to the post of director at ICANN.
I believe he has a lot more to give to this world and at ICANN, he can!

I am glad to know that Rajesh Chharia has been chosen a nominee for the Board of Directors of ICANN and would like to express my full support for his candidature. I am witness to his invaluable contribution to NIXI, which has helped us advance in our mission to accelerate the growth of the Internet, de-monopolize this growing market and maintain healthy competition to fulfill our socio-economic objectives.
Despite being at the helm of Internet related affairs in India and juggling with multiple responsibilities, he has delivered on all fronts with his knowledge and skills, which I am sure he will do as a director at ICANN too.
I wish him all the very best.

Dear ASO Address Council Members
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), India’s principal opposition party, currently going into polls, would be proud to nominate Mr Rajesh Chharia to fill the ASO seat on the ICANN Board.
Mr Chharia has played a stellar role in the governance process of the Internet in India, and has emerged as the voice of the domestic ISP industry. We believe a person as enterprising as Mr Chharia would be able to make a significant contribution to a globally respected organisation like ICANN.
We also believe that the Internet is a global heritage of mankind, and therefore its governance should have a much more broad-based representation. Election of someone like Mr Chharia from the eastern hemisphere would go a long way in correcting the imbalance.
Warm regards

While I whole-heartedly support Rajesh Chharia for this post, I have reasons to do that and you should know it as well. I know Rajesh both as a fellow Office Bearer at the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) and as Vice President of delDSL Internet Pvt. Ltd., a member of ISPAI. The trials & tribulations of our industry being faced due to various market as well as regulatory issues, where an ISP, especially a stand-alone ISP, is not heard in the corridors of power and the cause of Internet has been sacrified in those policy-making alters, Rajesh stood up and made our voice heard.
I agree with most of the comments stated in these columns, hence will not repeat those. If elected, Rajesh should bring to ICANN the same voice, simple but need-to-be implemented strategies and generally uncomplicate issues. In his avataar as President of ISPAI, he effectively involves everyone of us and as a result the proposals sent by us to the Govt. is now being heard and very favourable recommendations of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) have come, e.g. on liberalising Internet Telephony.
Rajesh will be an asset to the ICANN board and will surely bring in a global perspective Internet to this world.

Greetings,
Rajesh is a well educated with masters degree from a prestegious university of India. His company has been providing internet services to our institution since 2000; on account of which i have been intracting with him for the last 9 years.
I heartily support nomination of Rajesh Chharia, who is a technocrat and enterpreneur with a large heart and a very human touch to each interaction. As President of ISPAI (Internet Service Providers Association of India), he has a very delicate job of coordinating policies between Industry, Government, Polity and Legal issues, and he has been very admirably handling it in a polished way, without stepping on anybody’s toes, but clearly articulating the views of ISPAI members, while keeping the Consumer interest uppermost in his mind.
These are the qualities, which are needed in an ICANN director. Rajesh Chharia will bring Consumer and Industry voice from India and Asia, and his candidature should be heartily supported by everybody who wishes that ICANN hear more voices from the Ground.
With my personal intraction, i can say without reservation that Mr. Rajesh Chharia is not only a knowledgeble professional but also an excellent human being.
Thanks & Regards

Hello
With the rapidly expanding reach of the Internet in developing economies and the evergrowing mass of users, there is an increased need of their representation at a forum like ICANN. Rajesh would be an ideal candidate in such a scenario with his diverse experience as the ISPAI president, member of NIXI, an ISP and as an entrepreneur.
Being an ERP\IT consultant and an Internet end user I have been following the latest developments in the field and realise that with the dynamic and turbulent environment high growth markets like India provide, the responsibility of an ISPAI President would entail delicate balancing and co-ordination between the interests of different stakeholders. Rajesh’s experience in such a role would be helpful in policy decisions and security needs for shaping the future of the Internet.
