I would like to express my support in favor of Ray Plzak as a candidate to the board of ICANN.
I have known Ray since the early days in the formation of Afrinic. He has always been a strong supporter of Afrinic, especially in the early and vulnerable years of the organisation.
On a professional level, I have always been impressed by his dedication to the industry and the Internet community at large. He therefore fully understands the critical issues and challenges facing the Internet today. I am convinced that he will make a significant contribution to the advancement of ICANN.
On a personal level, I found him to be a wise and helpful friend. A strong shoulder to lean on during difficult times.
In my capacity as Chairman of Afrinic and, as a personal friend, it is my pleasure to recommend Ray Plzak as the ideal candidate to the board of ICANN.
Dear NomCom members,
It gives me a pleasure, in my personal capacity and as former Chair of the Afrinic Board, to support Mr.Ray Plzak’s candidacy to the ICANN board.
I have known Ray over the last 5 years and he has impressed me with both his professionalism and willingness to serve the community. Besides, he has a thorough understanding of Internet policies issues in general and specifically, the IP business and all related challenges.
Ray will certainly be a good representative of the Internet Resources community on the ICANN Board; I am sure he will have the opportunity to pursue the good work he has been doing as the President and CEO of ARIN, i.e ensuring a multi-stakeholder and bottom up policy development process. Ray will all the more be an important asset on the Board as ICANN is currently heading into an unchartered environment with both the ending of the JPA with Government of the USA , the exhaustion of the IPv4 address and the global discussions on the Internet governance.
Former Chair, Afrinic Board
I would like to support the election by the ASO of Ray Plzak to the ICAN Board of Directors.
I’ve known Ray for several years, and I have interacted with him in a variety of fora, including some 1-on-1 discussion regarding the evolution of the INternet and the role of RIRs in that process. I have been impressed with his knowledge, his professionalism, and his concern regarding keeping the Internet open, accessible and free. When he was with ARIN, he made a point of noting that ARIN’s constituencies included not only North America, but other countries in the hemisphere, and he was intent on assuring that they were fairly and well treated by ARIN. His obvious technical and organizational strengths add to his qualifications for this position.
Ray is a thoughtful guy. He may not say a lot, but it’s my impression that when he talks, it’s after thinking an issue through and providing a considered opinion. He treats serious issues as serious business and doesn’t shot from the hip. My sense is that he will be a thoughtful, engaged and diligent Board member whose contribution will be valuable for and valued by the organization. I support his election to the Board.
I will like to express in my personal capacity my support to the Mr. Ray Plzak candidacy to the ICANN board.
I know Ray for more than 5 years now and I have always been fascinated by his professionalism and honesty. He has a thorough understanding of Internet policies issues in general and related challenges.
Ray will be a good representative of the Internet Resources community on the ICANN board and will work to defend what he has always fought
for while working at ARIN: ensuring a multi-stakeholder and bottom up policy development process. He will definitely be a valuable asset to the ICANN board at this critical moment, where Internet governance landscape will face several challenges with the end of the JPA and the exhaustion of IPv4 address.
Ray is a good candidate for the job!

I am writing in support for Mr. Plzak as nominee for the ICANN Board of
Directors. I was fortunate to get to know Ray while I served for 6 years on
the ARIN advisory council while he served as President of ARIN. He not only
holds the executive leadership required to serve on the Board, but also has
the intimate understanding of the global internet business necessary for
successfully serving ICANN. My endorsement is without hesitation and is
qualified by Ray’s experience and demonstrative leadership.

As an ICANN fellow in Puerto Rico, I attended my first ICANN meeting, and found Ray at the ARIN booth giving out resources and information. I am an educator and I find him willing and generous with his knowledge and experience, both in support of general educational materials as seen, for example on the ARIN website, in answering questions sent to him by email. Knowledgeable, patient and analytical, I think Ray would be a great addition to the ICANN board.
