Regional Internet number resource policies relate to a given RIR and how that RIR interacts with its community. A regional policy can be unique to a given RIR. Global Internet number resource policies require specific actions or outcomes by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and deal with interactions between IANA and the RIRs exclusively. All five RIR communities must approve a global policy.
