Martin J. Levy
Mr. Martin J. Levy is Director, IPv6 Strategy at Hurricane Electric.
Mr. Levy has an active background in both the technical and management arenas of the Internet and Internet-related industries. He has been involved in the operational world of TCP/IP for 30 years.
Between 1981 and 1987, Mr. Levy worked at the prestigious Bell Telephone Laboratories and then after the breakup of the Bell System, at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore). His work revolved around the early days of deploying TCP/IP; including debugging of various protocol stacks. Since then, he has had a continuous operational focus. He has been involved in building numerous global IP networks in his recent career, all of which are still fully commercially operational. From 1997 to 2001 he was VP Internet Technology at Internex/Concentric Network Corporation (which became XO Communications). He worked for Telecom Italia Sparkle from 2002 to 2003. He has also been the CTO at various technology startups.
Mr. Levy’s dedicated focus on IPv6 has been his passion for many years. When joining Hurricane Electric nearly four years ago, he continues this dedication and pursues the unrelenting deployment of IPv6 within the global Internet.
Mr. Levy has shown a continuous commitment to the other members of the Internet community by participating in RIR, **NOG and other Internet-related meetings as both a presenter and as a member of program committees.
Mr. Levy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computing and Cybernetics from the University of Kent, Canterbury (UK 1978). He was born in London, England and has traveled extensively throughout his life. He resides in California and has done so for the last 25 years. He is a dual citizen and holds both a UK & US passport.
