From hph at oslo.net Mon Nov 28 22:06:11 2005 From: hph at oslo.net (Hans Petter Holen) Date: Mon Aug 17 10:36:45 2009 Subject: [aso-council] Ad ASO participation in ICANN recruitment process Message-ID: <438B7143.9020609@oslo.net> In response to your invitation to assist in the hiring process for the position for Vice President, Policy Support. Following discussions in the council I politely have to decline the opportunity to personally take part in the interview process for candidates. The ASO thinks ICANN recruitment process should be the responsibility of the ICANN President and staff and that in order to avoid conflicts of interests the Address Council should not be directly involved. The Address Council will however offer its advice on requirements needed for this possition: The AC belives the following qualifications are mandatory for the position - intimate knowledge of IP addressing policies, preferably in all regions, but at least in more than one region - participation in the global and regional IP policy foras for several years - technical knowledge of the IP addressing numbering system for IPv4 and IPv6 - technical knowledge of the Internet routing system - inter-personal skills - general knowledge of Internet governance We assume there will be similar requirements of knowledge of the policy processes in other areas but refrain from making specific recommendations outside our area of expertice. Yours Sincerely, Hans Petter Holen ASO Address Council Chair
