[aso-comment] Notice of Vacancy on ICANN Board to Be Filled by Address Council

To the Address Council:

Under Sections 3(a) and 3(b) of the ASO MOU, ICANN hereby formally 
notifies you that the seat of Pindar Wong on the ICANN Board of 
Directors will become vacant upon the expiration of his term on 
September 30, 2000.  Under Article V, Section 9(b) of the ICANN
bylaws:

   (b) Prior to October 1 of each year beginning in the year 2000, 
   each Supporting Organization entitled to select a Director . . .
   shall (i) make its selection according to the procedures specified 
   [the ICANN bylaws, which refer to the ASO MOU], and (ii) give 
   the Board and the Secretary of the Corporation at least fifteen 
   days written notice of that selection. The term of such a Director 
   shall commence on the October 1 after the Secretary's receipt 
   of such written notice.

Under Article V, Section 9(c), the term of the Director replacing
Mr. Wong will be three years.
